The Russia-Ukraine has pulled the rug from under the feet of many students studying in the country. Advisories were issued to international students to leave, with some finding solace in neighbouring countries, but what about Ukrainian students who have nowhere else to go? Amid the war, many universities abroad are offering scholarships for Ukrainian students.

Some of these scholarships cover full tuition fees for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, in addition to support for room and boarding expenses. There are also universities that allow students to continue their education at the institution for free too.

University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School

The University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School are providing two full-tuition graduate scholarships: one for the full-time MBA programme and one for a Specialised Master’s programme. Both of these programmes will commence in August 2022.

According to the university, these scholarships were made possible through the generous gifts of donors who want to remain anonymous.

The application is open to qualified graduate students, including those displaced by the Russia-Ukraine war. Click here for details

Regional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO)

RUSO governs six of Ohio’s public universities: Southwestern Oklahoma State University, East Central University, University of Central Oklahoma, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Northeastern State University, and Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

The public universities’ scholarship programme is open to those affected by the war. However, students’ eligibility is determined by each institution. The scholarship will cover tuition and room and boarding for undergraduate Ukrainian students. If the student meets university admission standards, the scholarship will cover costs for undergraduate degrees and on-campus residences, said the university.

Interested students must apply for admission by July 2024. Click here for details

University of Chicago (UChicago)

UChicago’s Center in Paris is providing full-tuition scholarships for undergraduates affected by the Russian invasion. The centre is the university’s regional hub for education, research and collaboration across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Additional support includes a streamlined application process for current UChicago Ukrainian students who were unable to complete their final semesters, and a connection to help them apply to more than 150 other institutions of higher education.
