Russian authorities requiring school and university employees to register as United Russia party supporters

Source: Meduza

Authorities in multiple Russian regions have begun requiring school and university employees to register as supporters of the country’s ruling party, United Russia.

According to a document administrators sent to employees at a university in the Rostov region (Meduza has obtained a copy), United Russia is “searching for people who aren’t indifferent and who are ready to support their country and their president.” It gives instructions for registering as a party supporter, specifying that even people who already belong to or support the party should complete the registration process. Attached to the letter is a form where university administrators are to write in the names of employees after they've registered.

A similar letter was sent by the education department of Krasnodar Krai’s Slavyansky District to local educational institutions, according to the Telegram channel Astra. “All organization employees, not only party members, are required to complete registration on the party platform info.er.ru by November 25, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.,” reads a screenshot of the document.
